Marina Vallarta

Marina Vallarta sits at the north end of Puerto Vallarta, about three minutes from the international airport and roughly 25 to 30 minutes from the Romantic Zone. The neighborhood is built around a marina, known locally by its whale-shaped entrance, that keeps the streets flat, manicured, and easy to get around on foot or by bike. Cruise ships dock here, and the marina is the daily hub for boating and ocean activities.

The feel is more polished and self-contained than older parts of the city. Restaurants and cafes ring the marina waterfront, and the surrounding blocks include supermarkets, medical facilities, and fitness studios. Most day-to-day needs are covered without leaving the neighborhood. The trade-off is a somewhat more Americanized character compared to areas like the Romantic Zone.

A golf course runs through the interior of the neighborhood and leads directly onto the beach, making it a strong draw for golfers. The beach is good for walking and swimming, though the water tends to be less clear than spots along the South Shore like Conchas Chinas. The central position on Banderas Bay makes the rest of Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit easy to reach.

Housing is varied. Older condos from the 1980s along the marina edge are spacious but often dated, while newer buildings offer updated finishes and marina or mountain views.
