Las Canoas

Las Canoas sits directly behind the Romantic Zone in Puerto Vallarta, close enough to walk over in minutes but with a noticeably different pace. The streets are flat and easy to navigate on foot, and the neighborhood has a lived-in, Mexican character you don't always find in the more tourist-heavy zones nearby. Little houses are being renovated throughout, and new development is coming in alongside the existing fabric of the area.

The Rio Cuale River runs close by, with trail access that gives residents an outdoor option without leaving the neighborhood. The Romantic Zone's beach, restaurants, and shops are a short walk away when you want them.

For day-to-day needs, Las Canoas has solid options right in the area. There are several cafes, lunch spots, and dinner restaurants within walking distance, along with convenience stores and the Emiliano Zapata produce market, which carries fruits, vegetables, meats, and cheeses. It's a practical setup for people who want to cook at home or eat out without going far.

Local video tours of the area show the flat, walkable streets and the mix of renovated homes and newer builds that define the neighborhood right now. Properties here tend to offer good value relative to the Romantic Zone itself, and the location, close to the river, close to the action, but set back from the busiest streets, is a big part of the appeal.
