The 16th Street Mall runs through the middle of it, connecting Union Station on the north end to Civic Center Park on the south. Light rail and bus rapid transit make it one of the better-connected spots in the metro for getting around without a car.
Housing here runs toward high-rise condos and loft conversions, most of them built or renovated in the last few decades. It's a denser, more urban feel than most Denver neighborhoods, with parking garages and street-level retail below residential floors. Larimer Square and the historic lower downtown area known as LoDo sit at the western edge and bring a mix of 19th-century brick warehouses that have been converted into restaurants, bars, and offices.
Coors Field anchors the northeast corner of the neighborhood, and Ball Arena is a short walk or ride away. Union Station serves as both a transit hub and a gathering spot, with a hotel, restaurants, and a large open waiting hall. The South Platte River trail system is accessible from the western edge of downtown, connecting to a broader network of bike paths that run through the metro.

Most of the housing stock is high-rise condos, mid-rise apartments, and loft conversions in older brick buildings. Single-family homes are rare here — this is a dense, urban neighborhood with most residents living in multi-unit buildings.

Downtown is the metro's main transit hub, so commuting by light rail or bus to areas like the Tech Center, Aurora, or the airport is straightforward. Driving out to the suburbs is easy from I-25 and I-70, though traffic during peak hours can be slow.
LoDo and RiNo (River North Art District) are just north and northeast of downtown. Capitol Hill is a short walk to the east. The South Platte River trail and Confluence Park are close to the western edge, offering outdoor access right from the neighborhood.
