Travis Heights

Travis Heights is one of those Austin neighborhoods that still feels like the Austin people talk about when they say the city used to have more personality. The streets are hilly and tree-lined, the homes are older and varied, and South Congress Avenue runs right along the western edge, putting restaurants, bars, shops, and live music within easy walking distance.

The neighborhood borders Lady Bird Lake to the north, which means trail access, specifically the Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail, is genuinely close for most residents. That combination of walkable entertainment and green space is a big part of why Travis Heights gets as much attention as it does in conversations about Austin real estate.

Housing here tends to be older bungalows and cottages, many of them updated over the years, mixed in with some newer infill construction. Lot sizes vary, and the terrain itself gives a lot of the streets a distinct feel you don't get in flatter parts of the city.
